Dominar Rygel XVI is the deposed ruler of the Hynerian Empire. Over 130 cycles ago, he was overthrown by his treacherous cousin Bishaan and publicly declared dead. In reality, he spent those long years being held prisoner by the Peacekeepers, who humiliated and tortured him in countless ways.

After many transfers to various planets and prison ships, he found himself aboard a Leviathan - a living ship named Moya. This ship had numerous passages and ducts that only a creature of his size could use, and he used these tunnels to engineer a jailbreak. After helping Moya and her passengers (themselves wanted criminals) escape Peacekeeper imprisonment, he has spent the next several cycles either eating or stealing everything that wasn't nailed down.

True, he's far from trustworthy, even by Hynerian standards. And yes, he has an appetite that is frankly ridiculous for a creature his size (it's the three stomachs). And yes, he's next to useless in virtually any situation that doesn't require lying. And yes, he farts helium when he's nervous. (He really wishes people would get over that one). But let it not be said that Rygel XVI is a Hynerian without dignity or virtue. If it weren't for him, no one on Moya would be alive.

He'd just like to very loudly remind you of that.
